Guidelines for Shipping Artworks for“The Future of Ceramics” 2026 Jingdezhen International Ceramic Art Biennale

I. In view of the fragile nature of ceramic artworks, the Organizing Committee recommends that shortlisted artists personally deliver their works to the Art Museum of Jingdezhen Ceramic University between 20 March and 20 May 2026 for the final review.
II. Artists who are unable to deliver their works in person are required to ship their artworks using wooden crates. Adequate internal cushioning materials of sufficient thickness must be used to ensure safety during transportation.
III. All external shipping crates must meet the following requirements:
1. Required Forms: Artists must complete both the Shipping Crate Label & the Condition Report and Installation Description, which can be downloaded from the official website of the Jingdezhen International Ceramic Art Biennale. After downloading, please insert photographs of the submitted artwork, complete all required information, and print the forms: the Shipping Crate Label must be affixed to both the inner and outer crates, on the left and right sides; labels on the outer crate must be fully secured with transparent tape or laminated before attachment to prevent damage or loss during transit; the outer wooden crate must be clearly marked with the corresponding reference number indicated on the shortlisted artwork form. The printed Condition Report and Installation Description must be placed inside the crate together with the artwork.
2. Packaging and Handling Requirements: The orientation of the artwork inside the crate must be clearly marked with arrows indicating “UP” (↑), and the crate must be labeled “FRAGILE.” All artworks must be packed in custom-made crates that are sturdy, securely sealed, and suitable for handling. The base of the crate must allow forklift access, and all panels should be bolted together to enable reuse. Artists are responsible for proper packaging, safe transportation, and self-declared insurance value. If an artwork is damaged during transportation due to improper packaging, structural instability, or inadequate securing—resulting in breakage, detachment, deformation, or other changes—the Organizing Committee will promptly inform the artist but shall bear no responsibility for such damage.
3. Grouped Works:For submissions consisting of multiple components, the Organizing Committee recommends packing each artwork in a separate wooden crate, and then placing all individual crates into a larger outer crate for shipment, to ensure overall safety.
IV. Artists are advised to use point-to-point courier or logistics services. The Organizing Committee is responsible only for receiving artworks within the Art Museum of Jingdezhen Ceramic University. If artworks cannot be delivered directly to the designated receiving location, the Committee will not be responsible for collecting them from logistics depots.
V. Upon the arrival of the artworks at the Art Museum of Jingdezhen Ceramic University, the Organizing Committee will inspect the condition of the shipping crates following strict procedures, including video and photographic documentation. If the outer crate is found to be seriously damaged upon arrival, the Committee reserves the right to refuse acceptance of the artwork and will notify the artist promptly. The Committee shall not be liable for any damage incurred during transportation.
VI. If damage to the artwork is discovered during unpacking, staff members will document the damage with photographs and contact the artist in a timely manner.
