毕业于阿姆斯特丹大学，主修政治学和艺术史。
1996年至2004年，担任荷兰乌得勒支中央博物馆展览总监。
此后至2009年，担任荷兰豪达博物馆馆长。
从2010年起，担任欧洲陶艺中心（EKWC）主任，同时也担任布拉班特舞蹈中心以及荷兰和比利时联合工作室的董事会主席。

2011年，担任“第二届英国陶瓷双年展”竞赛评委。
2011年、2015年和2021年担任“韩国京畿道国际陶瓷双年展”国际竞赛评委。

Ranti Tjan 还担任过在丹麦、澳大利亚和荷兰举行的国际比赛评委。

Studied Political Science and History of Art at the University of Amsterdam. He worked at the Central Museum of Utrecht as a director of exhibitions from 1996 to 2004. After that, he was appointed as director at museum goudA until 2009. From 2010, he has been working as a director of EKWC, the European Ceramic Workcenter in the Netherlands. He is also chairman of the board of Dance Brabant and of the union of Dutch and Belgium Workshops. In 2010, he started as a jurymember of the competition of International Biennale of Vallauris ,France, and 2011 juror of the competition of the 2nd British Ceramics Biennale, and 2011, 2015 and 2021 juror of International Competition of Gyeonggi International Ceramic Biennale, Korea. In 2020 he was juror of the International Competition of Faenza. Ranti Tjan also juried international competitions of Denmark, Australia and the Netherlands. He gives lectures worldwide and is internationally active as curator of exhibitions.
